Since a long time, we have witnessed a wave of retro styles through all major designer collections. But the retro looks now leave a deja vu experience. At the recent Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour 2012, the designers gave a resurgent salute to contemporary collection with a touch of vintage style. Quite a number of top notch designers presented their collections ranging from autumn- winter to festive wear. The collections were rich in commercially viable and universal outfits.
Nandita represented a multi purpose designer collection. According to her, the designs fit best to almost all major occasions like cocktails, special evening and even at beaches and resorts. The fabrics consisted of georgette, fine satins and chiffon in the range of colors like metallics to candy floss colors like peaches. The show shopper for the collection was Bipasha Basu.
Shantanu and Nikhil’s
The famous duo presented their highly elite collection “Romantic Renaissance”. The duo has made use of mughal work from the era of 50’s and 60’s. “We’ve used Mughal embroidery and appliqué work with emphasis on textures and layers. The lehengas are contemporary with the use of lace. Layered scarves and short, fitted jackets are also part of the collection,” says Shantanu.
Neeta Lulla presented a vivid winter collection in black named aptly as “The Dark Side”. According to Neeta’s press statement “I’ve drawn inspiration from baroque and gothic style statements. It’s a synergy of Indian and western sensibilities,” says Neeta. Cocktail dresses and coats styled like kurtas are part of the collection made from cotton, cotton silks and nets. “I’ve also used kalamkari and zardosi.”
There were other top league designers like Mandira Wirk, Vikram Phadnis and Raghavendra Rathore. Stars like Sushmita Sen and Maliaka Arora Khan dazzled as show stoppers for different collections.
